La Herradura: Bee Eater Walk
Sunday 2nd of February 2025 11:00 AM
This linear walk was named the "Bee-eater Walk" by Trevor because in the spring and summer, it is possible to see brightly-coloured Bee Eater birds. This walk is approximately 9.7km long, has an elevation of 490m and takes about 4 hours to complete.
LONG DESCRIPTION
This linear route is relatively easy and for the most part on 4x4 tracks. The lunch spot is at the top of a rocky outcrop called Peñon de los Castillejos, the site of a defence point (Castillo de Jate) dating back hundreds of years. It offers great views over the río Miel valley. To get up to the point where we eat there is a short scramble to get up to the rocky outcrop. There is almost no tree cover on this walk so take plenty of water.
